Why a Scholars Lab?

The Tijuana Youth Scholars Lab is a grass roots effort (typical of all Rotary projects) designed to:

• Help Tijuana Help Itself - By bringing improved perspective and understanding to some of the best and brightest youth in the area, the seeds of change are cultivated in the most important area of society, those whose efforts will shape the region’s future.
• Boost San Diego/Tijuana Region - Any assistance brought to the Tijuana region is assistance brought to San Diego. The region operates as a single economic unit; an improved standard of living in Tijuana improves the region.
• Build International Goodwill - The border and Mexico/US relations are not quite as the mainstream media would have us understand them. The good people of Mexico have the same aspirations for their families and loved ones as those in the United States. This program, targeted to Tijuana’s youth, builds bridges of understanding between our countries and cultures.
